Issues to be considered:
- Who are our customers?
- Who are our competitors?
- What is the economic focus of the state?
- Collaborations with other centers at LSU
- Collaborations with Southern University
- Make ourselves visible
- Define an interdisciplinary degree across colleges (perhaps using the Engineering Science degree as an umbrella)
- Change the name from Materials Science Center to Materials Technology Center or Materials Science and Engineering Center?
- How will faculty members be elected to the center?
- Long-term vision --- a building
Prof. Anupam Madhukar of the University of Southern California describes experiments and simulations on nanotechnology. |
Prof. Reza Abbaschian, Chair of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Florida, describes the organization, funding, and students in his department. |
