Special Semester with Richard V. Kadison

During the spring semester 2008, the Department of Mathematics is pleased to have Richard V. Kadison, a world leader in the field of operator algebras—the theory that provides the mathematical basics for quantum mechanics—as a visiting professor. Kadison is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and among his accolades is the Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement from the American Mathematical Society.

The department will host several special visitors for one-week visits as part of this special semester. The program is made possible by the support of the LSU Office of Research & Economic Development.
