Louisiana Consortium for Long-Eighteenth-Century Studies
The
Louisiana Consortium for Long-Eighteenth-Century Studies (LCLECS) seeks
to advance study of the "long" eighteenth century (1650-1850)
as well as to coordinate Louisiana's vast but presently widely dispersed
resources in this area. Aiming to coordinate the work underway at various
campuses, libraries, archives, and museums, the LCLECS will promote conferences,
visiting speakers, and publications pertaining to the era of "Enlightenment"--and
of Louisiana's founding. The LCLECS already cooperates in the publication
of 1650-1850 (http://1650-1850.net),
ECCB: The Eighteenth Century Current Bibliography (http://eccb.net),
the proceedings volumes from The Noel Symposia, and the transactions of
the annual Paris congress on eighteenth-century studies sponsored by the
Sorbonne. Over the coming year the LCLECS expects to explore funding opportunities
by way of advancing long-eighteenth-century studies in Louisiana.
